Established in 2005, 5 Cyclone Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron has grown quickly and serves youth from Russell, Embrun, Vars, Greely, Winchester and surrounding areas.
Royal Canadian Air Cadets participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities and aids in developing knowledge of Canadian history and democracy. The cadet program focuses on social development, decision-making and leadership. As cadets acquire skills and knowledge, they pass it along to younger cadets.
There is something for everyone – no matter what their personal interests may be. The outdoor enthusiast will appreciate learning survival skills for flight crew. The athlete will appreciate physical education and recreation, including a variety of sporting activities like biathlon and Olympic-style marksmanship. The artists will find their niche in the music program.
Every cadet will have the chance to participate in flight activities, and some top senior cadets may even earn a scholarship to obtain their private pilot’s licence.
The funding our Squadron receives from the Government of Canada is not enough to provide the cadets with a fulsome experience. As such, the funding received through charitable donations like Catch the Ace will ensure the continued functioning of the 5 Cyclone Squadron.
The Big Brothers of Cornwall and District began operation at the beginning of 1973. In February 1984,
the service was also provided to girls and the name of the organization was changed to Big Brothers and
Big Sisters of Cornwall and District.
The local agency is continually seeking more Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers who are willing to
share a few hours each week as a friend to a child and Mentors for one hour a week during the school
year for the In-School Mentoring program.
Our mission is to assist children, from primarily lone parent families in Cornwall and S. D. & G., to
achieve their full potential through mentoring programs with caring, responsible adult volunteers.
Our programs and services include: 1 on 1 Program, Couples Match, In-School Mentoring, Go Girls!,
Game On!, Big For A Day

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind is a national, charitable organization, headquartered in Manotick, Ontario. Our mission is to provide Canadians with sight loss with greater independence through the use of professionally trained guide dogs. We receive no ongoing government funding, and we rely on the support of donors and volunteers to provide our programs at no cost to our clients.
Community Navigation of Eastern Ontario/211 East has been providing information and referral to
vulnerable people for over 60 years. When people do not know where to turn in navigating our
complicated system whether it be federal provincial or municipal services all they have to do is call 211
and our Community Navigators will assess the challenge and connect people to the help they need.

Anyone can make a referral to Dundas County Hospice – a family doctor, friend, family member, caregiver, neighbour, and even you, yourself.
The Good Neighbour’s Food Bank distributes food to families of Embrun, Limoges, Marionville and Russell every week. We give non perishables, fresh vegetables, meat, and prepared meals. The money collected will also help buy gift cards before holidays like Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas.
H.O.P.E. is a volunteer led and driven organization. Our mission:
Is a volunteer, not-for-profit, event management organization that raises funds for community-based charities and has fun doing so.
H.O.P.E. started in 1982 by Fred Logan and a group of his friends who were, inspired by Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope, there goal was to raise funds to give back to the Ottawa community. Their efforts turned into the World’s Largest One Day Volleyball Tournament, which has continued to support Ottawa’s local charities for the past 42 years.
In an effort to broaden our giving back to the community, a committee, “Expand our Give”, was created to look at how we create other opportunities to help the Ottawa community without conflicting with the SummerFest work.
The two projects that we are requesting funding for from Kinsmen Club of Russell CTA are: Bags of HOPE and the HOPE Grocery Support. In order to manage these projects successfully, we are requesting funding to assist in the paying of supplies needed to give back to our community.
Bags of HOPE
Launched in 2019, this project is a simple structure but has a big impact. Led by a volunteer coordinator, H.O.P.E. purchases sundry items like soap, shampoo, tooth-paste, deodorant, socks, winter gloves, a few non-perishable food items, books and games for children. Focus of the contents of the bags have changed over the years depending on the target of the bags, e.g. youth organizations, low-income housing communities.
HOPE Grocery Support
A new project that launched in 2024, a team of HOPE members would work with a local grocery store located in, or very close to, a low-income neighbourhood to help supplement families in their purchase of staple groceries.
In order to manage these projects, we need funding for the management of both projects and to pay for the supplies needed to give back to our community.
These two projects focus on, the mission and the vision, of the organization and will continue its history of reaching out to, participating with, and giving back to our community.
Hospice Care Ottawa is a community-based organization offering high-quality, compassionate care to individuals living with a life-limiting illness, and their families, right from diagnosis through their palliative and end-of-life journey at no charge. We offer emotional and social support through our community programs such as In-Home Volunteer Support and Day Hospice. When being at home is no longer possible, we provide 24-hour care in a home-like peaceful environment at our 29 Residential Hospice Suites across Ottawa, as well as Grief and Bereavement Care to those who are coping with a loss. We support over 1,200 people each year through our various programs and services.
The Kin Canada Foundation is the arms length charitable foundation of Kin Canada, established in 2005 to assist the member clubs of Kin Canada in fundraising to support their community’s greatest need.
The core values of the Kin Canada Foundation are community, compassion, leadership, accountability and education. To that end, the Kin Canada Foundation will be investing all contributions received from the Russell Kin Club Catch the Ace into funding Ontario-based education and leadership initiatives for our partners at Kin Canada so that they can provide learning opportunities to their members.
La Maison des Arts has been serving the Embrun/Russell and surrounding communities for the past 35 years. Our mandate is to contribute to the development of arts and culture in the community, for children and adults of all ages, by offering a variety of programs and classes ranging from dance, singing, music, visual arts and others.
The organization is currently renovating its facility and updating/refreshing its pool of equipment, often dating back to the opening of the facility. In particular we need to replace the sound system, alarm system, and acquire/replace specialized equipment for the safe operations such as mattresses, etc.
For over 40 years, Maison Interlude House has always put women victims of domestic violence and their children at the heart of its development. In its early days, MIH operated only an emergency shelter in Hawkesbury. But since 2003, MIH has become a multiservice agency to better meet women’s needs in Prescott, Russell, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry counties. All MIH services are free, confidential and offered in French & English.
On average, each year, Maison Interlude House:
- Houses 50 women and children
- Supports 600 women and 100 children through outreach services
- Holds several support and development groups
- Receives over 1,000 crisis line calls and over 4,000 information calls

Maxville Manor is a not-for-profit long-term care home that has earned a strong reputation as a leader in caring for seniors and adults with special needs in our community and across Eastern Ontario since 1968. It consists of a Long-Term Care Home, Senior Living Apartments, and Community Support Services designed to ensure that older adults age in the right place with the support they need.

Sentier recreatif – Prescott Russell Recreational Trail, is a not for profit organization. Our mandate is to provide barrier-free outdoor recreation opportunities for the region. The main activities including cycling, walking and running in the summer and snowmobiling as well as cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. We also promote local events along the Trail including markets that promote local goods and services.
The 72-km recreational trail is a safe and multi-functional community connection that crosses the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (just outside of Ottawa), from Hammond in the west to St-Eugène in the east (and crosses through five of the eight municipalities, East Hawkesbury, Champlain, La Nation, Alfred-Plantagenet, and Clarence-Rockland).
The trail offers a relatively flat, pleasant and accessible route for the whole family with agricultural and wooded landscapes, dotted with charming little villages across the five municipalities. In summer, it’s available for a bike ride, walk or run and in winter snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing.

Founded in 1989, the Russell Association for the Performing Arts (RAPA) is a local, not-for-profit amateur theatre company. While we are best known for the two major productions we present each year, we also provide bursaries for local students pursuing post-secondary education in the arts, provide sound and lighting equipment for other local charities, and otherwise give back to this wonderful community we call home.
Youth Sporting Equipment (Russell Township)
The money collected will help fund equipment for youth sporting equipment at the new Recreation Complex. This complex will serve as the community hub for recreation and culture for our growing community and surrounding areas. The facility will include a 6-lane pool and leisure pool, three ice rinks for hockey, figure skating, and recreational activities and a community hall.

Usher 1F Collaborative Canada is a national, charitable organization. Our mission is to fund medical research to save the vision of those with Usher syndrome type 1F. Usher syndrome is the leading cause of inherited deaf-blindness, and type 1 is the most severe. Affected children begin losing their vision in early childhood, first with night blindness and then with ever narrowing tunnel vision, until total blindness results in adulthood. We fund research for a cure in Canada and the U.S., including at the University of Toronto. Winchester District Memorial Hospital and Dundas Manor Long-Term Care Home each play a vital role in meeting the health care needs in our community. WDMH requires approximately $1- $2 million worth of medical equipment each year, that is not funded by the provincial government, among other things such education and renovations. We are working diligently to build a new Dundas Manor, bringing more comfort, space and privacy to those who call the residence home. Residents deserve nothing less.
